Do those free internet gift cards really work?

I got an offer when I was on my e-mail account saying that I was "chosen" to get a $250 dollar wal-mart gift card. I want to know if it works.

1. No it's all an act of Spam.. They say things are Just a Click away, then before you know it, they ask for personal information such as your address, maybe even account numbers.. Just to hack into anything you have and screw you over financially. Don't Go for it!
2. Most of them are spam, but some do work. But usually theres a catch. For example , you can have the gift card if you sign up to be on the mailing list and participate in surveys and well you get it. If I were you I wouldnt bother trying to redeem it because it will waste your time.
