How do I shop online with an American Express gift card?

I received an American Express gift card for Christmas, and the packaging says that I can shop online using it. However, websites ask for a name and address when I try to use it. I tried registering the card through American Express's website, but they don't allow people to register gift cards, just credit cards. Does anyone know how to use this type of card to shop online? Thanks!

1. When they ask for a name and address, it doesn't matter. Put yours and your address. As long as they get their money you're good to go.
