What is the perfect gift for a new mom?

I am looking for the perfect gift that nobody else has though of. Any moms out there that can help? I want this to be for HER, not the baby.

Public Comments

  1. maybe something momish like a joke kinda
  2. I'm a big fan of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. There are two that are specifically for mothers, and if the child is a girl, there is also one for Mothers and Daughters.
  3. a basket with: flavored gourmet coffee, a cd of calming music, a gift certificate to her favorite store, a manicure and massage appointment, etc. stuff that will relax her
  4. Coupons redeemable for help in the first week that the baby is home. Maybe an hour a day so that Mom can take care of herself. Any new mom would truly appreciate that.
  5. Can you make a book with her baby? Like start it out by basically creating a creative scrapbook with tidbits of your friendship, and then slowly progress into who she is now, with maybe a handprint or something. Just offer a babysitting day and work with her little baby :) I think if you really put personalization into it and then a little gift at the end (like a day for the two of you) then it would be perfect! :D
  6. chicken soup for the soul. those books rock! there r sum more motheres and mothers and daughters.
  7. Something where she can get pampered, facial, massage, etc, Like a spa treatment or something. I am a mother and I would have LOVED if someone got me something like that.
  8. a mani/pedi would be great. one of my favorite gifts that i ever got was a tiny diamond horseshoe necklace right before i had my first son...one of my girlfriends got it for me for good luck. it was incredibly thoughtful and i still wear it till this day.
  9. After having my son, I begged everyone to get me "girly" things for Christmas. Things that made me feel like a woman again. My husband got me a really great spa appointment where I got a 30 minute massage. It was heavenly. My mother-in-law got me new make-up and perfume. My parents got me lots of bath goodies. My sister made me an appointment at the salon. It was all exactly what I wanted/needed.
  10. Lol, give her stuff to clean up with--a prank gift. She'll laugh if you come in with laundry degertant, a tide pen..etc Hello, mommies get puked on, peed on (ew, I know, but it's the truth), and they change diapers. They need to clean up, a lottt. Hope I helped?
  11. A pedicure. Comfortable pajamas. A maid! Seriously, someone to go clean her house would be great! A baby shoe charm for necklace or bracelet. Very best wishes!
  12. My best friend gave me the best gift that I have EVER received... She made an appointment for me and my son to have our pictures taken...these weren't your run of the mill pictures... We had some beautiful intimate shots taken of me and my son and I will cherish these forever. Hope this helps!
  13. If she baths.. I now people think about it bath stuff so relaxing.. or even pay to get her a massage or her hair done.. now haveing my kids I love getting my hair done.. it all depends what she likes a massage would be awsome after all the lauber and carriing the child.. or something to be papered.. even Couple Free babie sitting things..
  14. hey give here a day to the spa with a free babysitting pass from you so when she needs a day just to relax she dosent have to worry about someone babysitting her kids because you will be there to. pretty creative and a really nice gift for a new mom because they sure arnt use to all the stuff they are about to get themselves into
  15. a spa day!!! or...a great baby sitter for a night!!!
  16. I think the perfect gift would be to offer to help the mother where ever she needs it most. If she's got other kids, maybe taking them off her hands for awhile or if they are older, taking them to or picking them up from school, sports practices, etc. Perhaps helping with household duties such as laundry, basic cleaning, maybe even cooking some wholesome meals.
  17. How much you want to spend? LOL my favorite gift was my deep freezer from my parents, it was 155$ at Sams Club.... she also bought 310$ of frozen food ready to cook ((well I guess 250$ on food really cause she bought a pair of jeans and a box of diapers too)) but you could just cook up a few meals and freeze it in some tupperware and take that OR just a deep freezer - I needed it cause I am pumping breast milk and it stores for a year in deep freeze........ anyway, good luck! I'm really practical so I dont go for stuff like lotions and jewelry and stuff...
  18. Cook for her. Being a new mom, things get hectic, and you're so worried about feeding the baby, you forget about (much less have time for) feeding yourself. Prepare a meal for her and her family members. Something simple like a big casserole, a salad and some bread to take over. Shes sure to appreciate it!! I had it done for me and LOVED it.
  19. It doesn't matter we like all gifts!
  20. *A diaper service if she is using cloth diapers (so she doesn't have to wash them) *Home delivered meals for a couple of weeks (so she doesnt have to cook) *You could hire a cleaner to clean her house once a week for a month. *Offer a professional photo shoot of the new mum and bub *A cast hand or footprint of the new bubs *A pamper pack, bath oils, moisturisers, potpuri, face masks etc. *When she is ready you can offer to babysit so that she and her partner can have a night out. * Redeemable coupons for babysitting, a home cooked meal, walking their dog etc. Obviously the gift you give will depend on how much money you want to spend.
  21. When my sister had her first baby, I got her something so she could pamper herself. I learned quickly that even though she liked it, she just never had the time or energy to use it! If you are VERY close with her, maybe get her movie tickets, or something she personally likes, and offer a night of babysitting... Something she may like also is a scrap booking set, so that way it would be something she can appreciate for a very long time, and still be for her since she will be the one creating it. Good Luck!
  22. A day off, just take her baby and let her sleep all day, or shop or whatever she wants.
  23. WOULD YOU BELIEVE A MASSAGE? As you may know pregnancy can put a lot of stress on a womens body. Post partum is stressful too, what with sleepless nights and the mothers schedule pretty much wrapped around the baby. A hour to hour and half massage is a gif of time all to herself that she's bound to appreciate. Think soothing oils, aromatherpy and relaxing music. She'll come out refreshed and relaxed, not to mention the medical benefits of improved circulation, restored muscle tone, improved breathing, lower blood pressure..and the list goes on. If you can afford it, you may even want to get her several sessions. Some therapists offer "package" discounts.
  24. a 30 min massage and offer to babysit while she goes......i promise its the best ahhhhh i loved mine at least
  25. a SPA gift card (new mom) i would love one ^__^
  26. i'm a new mum, as of just under three weeks ago, and i would suggest a massage! i would suggest not a pamper pack because i find it hard to find time for just a shower let alone a relaxing bath!
  27. Book store gift certificates and nice clothing stores.
  28. How about a heated massaging bed rest? A relaxing place for her to feed the baby! Check out http://www.greatmothersdaygiftideas.com/category/1st-mothers-day/ - they have some unique ideas. I like their hand-painted wine glass for new moms - it's really cute. That and a bottle of wine would be nice.
