do visa gift cards work online?

i got several visa gift cards for christmas and i wanted to know if you can use them online like you would a normal credit or debit card. if they do can you walk me through the steps? thanks.

1. On most websites, yes. Just make your purchase, and checkout using "credit card." Then enter the gift card number like you would any Visa card. It has an expiration and a 3 digit code on the back. Always know your balance, though, so you don't get declined. Some websites authorize an extra dollar, eg. total $10, they authorize $10 + $1 (=$11). Just so you know.
2. yeah, what he said. But do you know if you will get mailed a bill like a regular credit card? Please answer!!!
3. Yes, they do work online on any site that accepts visa debit cards. However, before you use your card online, make sure you register the card with the card issuer (add your name and billing address to the card), otherwise it may be rejected online.
