Can i purchase an item with an american express gift card and cash?

There is an item i want to buy for $60. Can i use my $50 american express card and use a real credit card/cash to pay the rest? And can i do this for online items?

1. Yes you can it is just like cash!
2. You can definitely do it in person, online the website just has to accept multiple forms of payment. If you find a website that does not have it set up but has a phone number or an e-mail contact get in touch with them and inform them of your request.
