How to get salon clients to purchase gift cards?

At the hair salon I work at their holding a contest to see which receptionist can sell the most gift cards. I can't give discounts or anything (like selling a $20 card for $15) so I need just some ideas on how I can get clients to buy cards. I'm pretty outgoing and have a natural ability in the sales area, I'm just looking for some ways that I can try to sell these gift cards as they are paying for their hair services/products. What's a good and not akward way to do this without saying the expected and annoying statement of "Would you like to purchase a gift card today".? Thank you so much! I appreciate your input. :)

1. Have your closest friend that actually does the hair to mention you while they are working on their customer! It sounds bad, but it might work!
