Can you use prepaid Visa gift cards to purchase items online?

- Some websites will allow it. Others do not. You can try and see what happens.
- Yes, if it is a Visa card, you can use it just like a regular Visa credit/debit card.
- You certainly can, that's one of the purposes they were made for, make online transactions much safer, but yes some website will not allow them, but most do
- Yeah you can. My mother always sends me those for christmas and I always end up using them online. Any place that takes a visa will take the prepaid ones. Just type in the billing info like it's a real credit card.
- Yes, In fact someone I know buys them specifically for that purpose
- Yes, I used to do that when I did not have a debit card. It's just like having a visa credit card. I think they should sell them online on the visa website or I got them from my bank.
- Both VISA and Mastercard gift cards can be used at online stores. You enter them as your payment just as if they are a normal VISA or Mastercard credit card. There are two issues that frequently pop up: When the store goes to authenticate your card it fails due to the address. A regular credit card has an actual address tied to it. The gift card obviously does not. Some web sites adapt to this - others don't. When the tax and shipping are added in the total price exceeds the amount on the gift card. http://www.squidoo.com/trade-giftcards#module16175262 http://www.visa.com http://www.mastercard.com
- If you purchase a prepaid card and it does not work online, look at the paperwork enclosed with the card. My son got one for his bday and it would not work because of the address issue. We found in the card's paperwork that he had to register the card online...after we did this, the card worked perfectly!
