Purchase Items online with gift cards?

My parents are really protective about their credit card, so its really hard for me get their permission to use their credit card to purchase items online. So my question is: will i be able to purchase things online by using one of those "gift cards"(american express, visa, etc)? If yes, which one works the best(company)? What are some of my requirements?

1. This is hit or miss. Most websites do address verification on all credit cards, regardless of whether they are "Gift Cards" or not, though not all gift cards respond to these Address Verification checks. Your best bet is to go down to Walmart and get one of their customized prepaid cards. It is reloadable at any walmart store for less than most giftcards cost, and it works with Address Verification on ALL websites (I use one myself).
