walmart gift card can you get your money back?

is it possible to get the money off of a walmart giftcard? I got a walmart gift card from someone for my birthday and i really dont shop at walmart. So i was hoping to spend it somewhere else.

1. Nope - don't work that way. Take your bff with you to Wal-Mart - let them buy something and have them give you the cash, while you buy it with gift card.
2. No, the only thing you can do is use the gift card. If you purchase something and try to return it, you will not get the cash back, you'll just get another gift card.
