Is it possable to spend itunes gift cards at an apples store?

Well I have a lot of itunes gift cards, but my ipod is pretty old. I was wondering if I could get a new ipod at an apple store with my itunes gift cards or if the money is limited to the computer. Note that I haven't uploaded any of the money to my itunes account.
