Why do I get so stressed out over writing stuff on greeting cards?
I was taught to always add a few personal words to the text, but I just find it hard to do. I always tense up and make a mistake just saying the most benign cliche thing. Then I have to toss out the dumb $4.95 card. Errrr, what is it about dumb greeting cards?

- Keep it simple, and if you know the person it's easy. Musical Cards say alot. :-)
- Yeah I know what you mean, unless it's a super important card I just keep it really simple though. Nothing wrong with best wishes, happy birthday, lots of love, get well soon, congratulations etc. You don't need to be a master wordsmith with cards the whole point is simply to let someone know you care.
- Me too. Send ecards.
- All writers are tense try this: 1) Write what you want on a scrap paper first. 2) Get a book of quotes and highlight ones that are great, quote the author with the author's name then your own. 3) Work up a standard "personal" message for things like birthday's etc. Try minor variations so it is not always the same. 4) Just sign your name with something like "Enjoy your birthday." "Missing you" "You are in my thoughts, take care." that is personal without being overly wordy.
