  1. yeah its just send the message you aren't sure what to get so it would be better for them to get something on their own..
  2. I think gift cards send the message "yea I wasn't quite sure what to get you but I really wanted you to have what you want this christmas." I think they are great ideas for any occasion. I got gift cards when my daughter was born, it was great.
  3. What do you give to the person who has everything??? A gift card! Seriously, that's what I'm doing for Christmas with my Mom and Dad. They are remodeling their basement and I figured with a gift card they could get what they want for it. With a card, it ensures your recipient with get what he/she wants for Christmas.
  4. If you have a teenage sibling and you get them gift cards to say, the mall, and not to a specific store, I don't think that it is saying you had no idea what to get them, I think it says, you are a teenager and I'm sure you would much rather prefer to get a giftcard or money so you can buy what you want. If it's for your parents or grandparents, I wouldn't go out and get them a gift card, but maybe get them a nice basket, and several (small valued) gift cards to some of their favorite restaurants, or maybe if they like to go to the movies, get them a movie or two, a gift card to the theatre, maybe a couple bags of mirowave popcorn, and dress it up in a nice basket with a handtowel or something. I think there are ways around the "gift card" being the "I don't know what to get you/I don't have time to go shopping for you." gift. Just put a little thought into it.
  5. Sometimes you really don't know what to get, but you want to get them something. In that case, I would give a gift card. I try to pay attention to all the wants of those on my gift list. So I'm usually not in that situation.
  6. A gift card is a great idea, if it is a "specialist" card. You can say, I know you love music, but couldn't decide on which cd you'd like, so thought I'd leave it for you to choose. You can make an appropriate statement for whichever card you decide on. It will then look like you have put thought in to the gift. I think it's bad news to just put money in a card to give someone.
  7. if you feel bad just giving them a gift-card, then make/buy a card and write a sweet personal note inside it.
  8. Hey i am getting my friends and family for x-mas is cards but it is the thought that counts.
  9. It depends on who the gift card is for, who it's from, and what kind of gift card it is. If you're very close to a person, and they don't like to shop, then, yeah, you should find something else to get them. But if the recipient A) Likes to shop B) Has some favorite stores and C) Wants gift cards, then I don't see anything wrong with getting them a card to their favorite shop. And if you don't know the person well, it's best to let them choose rather than be stuck with something they don't want. But if you know the person, know they hate to shop, know they're going to lose/not use the card, and could probably think of something better, you should try to think of something better. If you're concerned about buying just a gift card, you can get a little personal gift to go with it.
  10. gift cards are a way of getting the easy way out of thinking about a gift they may like. u might give them something they might not, but they will appreciate the pure thought u put into it. and btw, thanks for stealing my name. if your going to be mature about it, then ill change mine. the word fabulous is sooooo last year anyways. peace.
  11. If they are not your BEST FRIEND then its fine...
