Can you use American Express gift cards to order stuff online?

I have no idea what section to put this in...

1. It should be able to use it as a regular credit card as long you activated it.
2. As long as the site you are trying to purchase things from accepts AmEx. A lot of merchants don't accept AmEx. Their fees are high.
