how can I use Jcpenny gift card some where alse?

My friend gave me a Jcpenny gift card of 40 dollars. I don't want to shop from there. Is there any way that i can use it some where else or any way that I can buy an American express card.

1. You can use it on the online JCPenny store.
2. I don't think so. each gift card is specific to that store. Each kind of gift card has a sku on it, and each is indicitive to each kind of store, and there's no crossing over, because no one computer system is the same, unless you're going from one JCP to another. I work at Kohls and I know we don't accecpt outside gift cards. Bottom line, you can only use your JCP card at JCP.
