Gift Card Resources

Appropriate thankyou gift for coworker?

Recently, I had a knee joints broken. Since I am not familiar to the area where I live/work, I originally went with the hospital recommended orthopedic surgeon. Upon the 1st first visit, I did not seem to like the doctor. I asked the co-worker for the doctor recommendation. I really liked the doctor and I had the surgery done by the co-worker recommended doctor. I feel a lot better now and I am back to work. I was thinking I would buy gift for the co-worker as token of appreciation. Is it appropriate to buy gift for the co-worker in this situation? If yes, I was planning on getting her American Express gift card, since I am not fully aware of co-worker likes/dislikes? Thank you all for the answers. I forgot to mention previously that I was also offered ride to work any day I cannot drive to work, since she said that she lives around the same area. I have not yet taken up on the offer, yet.

  1. The gift card sounds like a good idea. You can also just treat the co-worker to lunch one day. I've done that quite a bit with co-workers and associates. It's much appreciated and it allows the two of you to learn more about each other.
  2. I would go with electric's answer
  3. In this situation a "thank you" is more than sufficient , a gift might make for an uncomfortable situation.
  4. Gift Card
  5. Well first off I am glad your knee joints are better. While I like the suggestion of a gift card ....A gift is not necessary in this particular situation with your coworker. I would however thank her and let her know how happy you were with her recommendation. That will be thanks enough. People love it when their advice is heeded ...It makes them feel smart and respected. To introduce a "gift" in to this situation would make things "uncomfortable" As another answer stated.
  6. a gift card is a good gesture..or maybe if you are new to the area which it sounds like you are just take them to lunch on a work day ....to bad all people aren't as thoughtful ...
