HOW TO CONVINCE MY PARENTS?!?!?!?!?!?
Ok. I'm an only child and for Hanukkah/Christmas I am gonig to buy alot of my friends presents. I have alot of money from soccer field lining and refereeing. I realllly want to get a debit card with my soccer money on it, like an american express gift card, but like, first i get my soccer money on it, and if for a holiday or whatever reason i get money, i could put it on the debit card. But I want it to be like a credit card, that I don't have to like go to an ATM and put in a code, etc. That I just swipe the card and go, if you know what I mean. So my QUESTIONS: -How do I ask -What do I say -What kind of card is this -Where can I find a website on this kind of card THANKS!!!

- A debit card does not need to be used at an atm but you need to use your pin when you swipe it. I would not reccomend a credit card as you can spend much more money than the money you just have and you must pay it all back at the end of the month. Where as a debit card uses the money that is actually in your account. Many parents will have a hard time giving their child a card to an account because if you overdraw your account then you owe the bank fees and it effects your standings with the bank. Many banks have information on all of the cards that they offer this would be something to look over with your parents as some cards come with service fees. Just go to your parents and ask them. Tell them you are willing to show them some serious responsibility before the card is given to you to build their trust that it is taken care of. Or you may tell them that you would be happy to let them hold the card and then ask them for it when you are going to use it.
- this is more of a responsibility thing with parents...try going to the bank talk to them...inform yourself...and talk to them after...or ask them if you can go to the bank and find out some info on it...dont act to eager and forceful...atleast look like you are taking all info to heart...and be wise...money is a serious thing...and if you go over on your card your parents will have to pay...and ur responsibiliy will be out the door...good luck ps it is a debit card
- You can use a debit card as credit on a keypad at a store if you don't want to enter your PIN number every time you go to the store. And you don't have to only use it at an ATM unless you want to withdraw cash from one, really. I always choose "credit" even if I pay with my debit card because my bank gives cash rewards for that. And I hardly ever have to go to an ATM. You should get a checking account with a bank and then ask your bank to send you a debit card for your checking acct. Don't ask for a credit card, cause if your parents are smart they won't let you get one until you're an adult. They are a biiiig responsibility. It's always better to use money you know that you have in the bank. Otherwise after a couple years you end up paying $10 for something as silly as a candy bar unless you pay it off right away. Hope this helped :)
