  1. An American Express card is a card issued by American Express, or a card issued by another bank that uses the American Express network. They are traditionally a conservative lender with high standards for approval, rewards programs, and travel benefits. AmEx does issue a reloadable debit card called the Pass Card, but only to AmEx cardholders for personal use or for their family members. It has monthly fees, and only the primary cardholder can reload it. Discover has a similar card called Current. Both are marketed to teens and their parents, although they can be used anywhere one person wants to assign a certain amount of money to another and track their spending. If you need a reloadable debit card, you're better off going with Visa or Mastercard; they are accepted by more merchants and you can reload them at participating stores. But if you're not yet 18, you technically need a parent-controlled card like Visa Buxx, Discover Current, or AmEx Pass. You might be able to get around that, though....
