can prepaid credit/gift cards be used for gaming subscriptions?

Just wondering, cuz i was hoping on paying a tabula rasa subscription with one (american express) and i was wondering if it could be used for such a payment....so...yea......it says no recurring payments, so just in teh case that i cant use a prepaid card, does PlayNC(payment company?) accept any other means of payment? Maybe PayPal?
